1. Language-Linguistics(Abstract Noun) language(s) which people learn to travel to places where it is spoken, to know art, literature etc. of that place and to have commercial transaction etc. with the speakers of that language. This language is not used for any other purpose outside the classroom and for the very reason for which it is learnt/used. It is not a second language or the official language of the place where people learn it for specific needs. French, German etc. are foreign languages in India. However, it may be noted that a language like Assamese/ Bangla may also have the status of foreign language for a Malayalam or Telugu speaker who learn it for such purposes. Thus a foreign language is not necessarily a language spoken in a foreign country.
